1. Installation & Setup
Step 1: If you see a warning about an unidentified developer
1. If a warning appears
If you see "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified", please click "Cancel" once.
2. Right-click to open
Right-click (Control-click) the app icon and select "Open" from the menu.
A confirmation dialog will appear again, but this time you will see an "Open" button. Click it to launch the app.
Step 2: Accessibility Permissions (Important)
HyperCaps requires "Accessibility" permissions in macOS to modify key inputs.
A prompt will appear on the first launch, but if you skipped it, please follow these steps.
- Open System Settings.
- Go to Privacy & Security > Accessibility.
- Find HyperCaps in the list and turn the switch ON.

If it's not in the list:
Click the + button at the bottom left and select "HyperCaps" from your Applications folder. - Enter your password (or Touch ID) if prompted.
2. Basic Settings (Caps Lock Behavior)
Configure what happens when you press the Caps Lock key alone.
Available Actions
- None Do nothing (Best for preventing accidental presses)
- Esc Act as Escape key (Recommended for Vim users)
- Fn + Delete Forward Delete (Delete characters to the right)
3. Hyper Key
Holding down Caps Lock simulates pressing all modifier keys simultaneously (Hyper Key).
This is extremely useful for defining global shortcuts in apps like Raycast, Alfred, or BetterTouchTool
that won't conflict with anything else.
4. Vim Mode (Cursor Navigation)
While holding down Caps Lock, you can move the cursor without leaving the home row.
You can choose your preferred style from the "Vim Mode" dropdown in settings.
Vim Style
Familiar layout for engineers and Vim users.
Gamer Style
WASD layout, familiar to PC gamers.
5. L/R Command (for US/Win Users)
Useful features for US keyboard or Windows keyboard users.
Enable the L/R Command switch in settings to use this.
Input Switching
Toggle input sources by tapping (press and release quickly) the left or right Command key.
- Left Command English (英数)
- Right Command Japanese (かな)
Delete Operation
While holding down Command, it can function as a Delete key (Optional).
- Left Command Backspace (delete)
- Right Command Forward Delete
6. Troubleshooting
Q. How do I activate the app?
Please enter the license key to activate the app. Refer to the video below for instructions.
Q. Key input is acting strangely
Please click the Reset Keys button in the "Troubleshooting"
section at the bottom of the settings menu.
If that doesn't fix it, please Quit the app and restart it.
Q. Caps Lock LED doesn't turn on
Since this app controls key input via software, it may not sync with the physical keyboard LED. Please use the HUD displayed on screen to check the current status.
